I had up to eight students participate over a three month period to rebuild the wings on this Challenger II airplane. The project was to convert sailcloth covered wings to full stits covering and adding upper ribs, inboard and outboard boxes along with fiberglass tip. We used the Poly Tech system and they came out very nice. This upgrade has made the plane a bit heavier but much safer.
This slide show is dedicated in memory of Nick Kennedy Who I had the privilege to work with in Maine until I had to move to Florida. He lost his life when being struck by a truck while walking home from work one night. He attended many of my classes and had flown with me on several occasions and was a true friend. This was a class at the airport in Auburn Maine. We never know how we can impact someone's life or how many opportunites we will have.
